i bought this for my husband, it was on sale and he usually likes another tom's deodorant (i think it was cedar or fir or something evergreen scented). when i first smelled this, i was afraid my husband would not go for it. it is a little fruity...my 5 year old said it smelled kind of like orange or lemon. it smells good, and not too perfumey or feminine, but it NOT like a mountain stream in any way!! but my husband did not mind the smell. i would say it is unisex for sure.either way, it's not like Ax or Old Spice where the fragrance has a life of its own and you can smell it from a mile away. natural fragrances are very subtle anyway, so as long as its not awful, it doesn't matter too much. i just wanted people to be aware that mountain stream may make you think, like i did, that this would be a crisp and refreshing scent, maybe with hints of cedar or something like that. it is more like an orange orchard. it smells good, but to some it may not be their cup of tea.my husband likes tom's "long & lasting" deodorant. he does not have sensitive skin to begin with, and complained of no problems like some others did. he also thought it worked pretty well. he mainly wants it for work, he bikes to work and is somewhat physical in his job, but doesn't want to smell too sweaty when he is working with customers. he said he works well and requested i keep buying it, and we have tried several other natural deodorants that he did not like as well. and with subscribe and save, this was a great deal.I always buy this deodorant at Rite Aid but now I know better! This is half the price of anywhere else and I’m so happy about it. I love the smell of this one and it’s the only one I buy although I had some feelings of annoyance with the company when they felt the need to label a deodorant as “men’s” when they sold it for years without the need to distinguish which scents were right for which gender but I guess I won’t hold them to a higher standard anymore and just be glad the products are still decent quality. That being said it’s obviously an aluminum free deodorant so it’s not exactly long lasting despite saying 24 hours. I probably apply it on average 3 to 4 times a day on a hot day because the scent lasts until it gets sweat off enough. I don’t really expect too much from non aluminum other than staying free from the rash people complain about with others so I’ve stuck with this brand for over 12 years.I was suffering from constant perspiration in my armpits. I looked for clinical formula, sprays, sure, you name it. I looked but nothing helped my problem. Moreover, my shirts were turning up yellow because of the aluminum inside the products I was using. Finally, I went natural. Yeah I sweated still for an entire week upon beginning use, but my body became use it it.Heres the deal:When you use products that container aluminum or any unnatural product for that matter, you are constantly plugging up your pores. This is not natural, as your body needs to sweat. I learned, My body was constantly fighting the plugged up pores from other products. When I went to Toms, my pores starting sweating for almost an entire week as if Niagara falls was right underneath my arm. At that time, I figured that if I was sweating with either product, I might as well go natural. Eventually after the week ended, I stopped sweating. It was like my body went into normal limbo.I appreciate this product so much and it taught many lessons on what I should do for my body. Please do your research on aluminum effects and the unnatural products you put in your hair, arms, and face. You may be fighting a vicious cycle like me until you detox yourself from unnatural products. My Husband has some serious issues with Deodorant. He is the pickiest person (male) I know. He typically shelfs Dove spray, dove stick, clinical, various types of Degree, spray and clinical... At one time he holds minimum 10 different types of deodorant. He works out five days a week and is always on the go. He swears that they work for a day or two and stop. So he switches. He tries another, same thing. So basically he rotates them off. He laughed when I ordered Tom's. Said "Sure, I'll try it." Come to find out - He loves it!!! It's a total winner!! For 2 months he has used ONLY this. This my friend's is amazing! Now we are in the NE and he does head to Orlando next week so we'll see how it tests the heat!! For now though - it's a winner!!It's hard to find a natural deodorant option for a guy. Everything smells like flowers or fruit. I'm sorry that's not really what I'm going for in covering up my sweat. I tried all the natural options and finally happened across Tom's Mountain Spring scent. It does a good job. Not as good as a synthetic deodorant/anti-perspirant but much safer for your body. Does it smell like a Mountain Spring?? Well, I'm not so sure of that, because Mountain Springs usually smell like running water and dirty... again I don't think that's what they were going for here. This is a nice clean smell with maybe a touch of jasmine or vetiver... It doesn't last as long as a synthetic deodorant either, so you might be stuck reapplying mid-day but again comes with the territory.I recently had picked up Tom's toothpaste which was very effective and well flavored, so I decided to trust Tom's with deodorant, because it is tough finding a deodorant that does not use aluminum or other chemicals. The smell does not get long to get used to, and you may feel that the product is very sticky when you apply it under your arms. My solution to this was just to spread out the product and almost rub it in like a cream. Anyways, I really want to love this product, however you will notice after the first hour, even if you have not done any physical activities, the scent almost completely vanishes, and in comes your old friend Mr. Body Odor (keep in mind I do not sweat much). I will perhaps try one more deodorant product from Tom's, but at least for this one in specific, as much as I want it o be perfect, and as much as I want to say good things about it, it just does not do the job, If anyone has any deodorant suggestions, please let me know. I hope this review helped; Tom's is a great company, but this specific deodorant is not Long Lasting.
